Regular attendees to the annual RMS Exceedance conference will know how comprehensive our agenda is, in terms of the sheer breadth of topics and areas we cover. Our aim is to deliver a program designed to highlight the issues, opportunities, and the solutions available to tackle the challenges that the risk management industry faces.
Join us in Miami (May 13 – 16) for this year’s Exceedance, and in addition to our keynote presentations (and of course, social events, The Expert Bar, our thirtieth anniversary, and the EP), the mainstay of our conference focuses on sessions spanning across seven in-depth “track” themes.
Our tracks cover a broad range within its defined theme over two days, with educational sessions, panel discussions, case studies, and “how-to” and technical deep-dives. All the track descriptors are available on the Exceedance website. Attendees can immerse themselves in a single track or pick and mix across all seven to create their perfect agenda.
Here is a selection of three tracks that will be covered at this year’s Exceedance:
Growing the Pool of Addressable Risks: In 2018, half of the catastrophe disaster burden went uninsured. Could more be done to ensure the long-term social and economic resilience of at-risk communities? In this track you will learn how market leading intermediaries are innovating with analytics to build the physical and financial resiliency required to close the gap and grow the market.
Capital, Resilience and the Business of Uncertainty: The winds and waters of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria had long-lasting catastrophic impacts on communities ranging from the Caribbean to Texas. Then came the California wildfires, which were the worst in recorded history. Residents were displaced, businesses closed, lives and livelihoods were lost.
Experts agree: extreme weather will occur more often, and insurance and lending rates will rise, housing will become less affordable, and federal assistance will have more strings attached. Is there uncertainty? Always. Could more be done to ensure the long-term social and economic resilience of at-risk communities? Absolutely. This track will gather insurance professionals, risk experts, and resilience thought leaders to discuss critical risk management issues and data-driven approaches essential to risk reduction, risk mitigation and resilience.
The RMS Platform: It’s a fact that as our industry evolves, companies will require more than just catastrophe models. Analytics, security and data compliance are key examples of “must haves” from a solutions provider, rather than “nice to haves”. This track will showcase how the RMS platform provides these solutions in an open and scalable way. You’ll receive an overview of our software solutions including the latest insights on Risk Modeler and RiskLink, how to run high-definition (HD) models on the RMS platform, the latest updates on V18.1, and much more.
Exceedance is one of the biggest global gatherings for the risk management industry, where the community comes together to learn, share, debate, and also have some fun. If you haven’t secured your place yet, there is still time to save US$200 on the on-site registration price. We look forward to welcoming you in Miami.
